Prof. Sule Bello, former Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) is dead.

Bello, a foremost Professor of History, passed on Sunday in Abuja. He was NCAC’s second chief.

On Tuesday, the incumbent Chief Executive Officer, Segun Runsewe described the death as painful.

Runsewe extolled Bello’s virtues, calling him a great historian, world-class intellectual and patriot.

He recalled Bello contributions towards grooming young and intelligent Nigerians while he was serving as a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

The DG added that Bello’s input to scholarship can be found in the various books articles he authored and the number of intellectuals he mentored.

“As the second Chief Executive Officer of NCAC, Prof. Bello brought his wealth of knowledge and experience to bear in repositioning the council for greater efficiency in service delivery.

“The late professor laid the foundation of what we are reaping in the council today”, Runsewe said.
