This is the money in the Somalia  state stitched by tailors because the central bank doesn’t print new currency.

It’s the same notes since Siad Barre fell.

The bank doesn’t function, the state can’t even print money yet they talk about sovereignty.

Somalia’s money situation is wild. The notes in circulation today are basically the same ones from when Siad Barre was in power. No new currency has really been printed for years, so people just keep using the old notes.

Because of that, some of these bills are worn out, patched, and in some cases even reproduced informally just to keep cash moving. It’s not your typical system where a central bank is actively printing and managing money.

The central bank barely functions, and the country hasn’t been able to properly issue new currency. Yet, despite all this, Somalia still operates and talks about sovereignty like any other nation.

It’s a strange mix — a country running on outdated cash, informal fixes, and still pushing forward.
